I applied for an interesting-sounding position at the Exploratorium on Tuesday. I don't know if they'll like me and I don't know if their desired very-part-time schedule is anything I can work with, but I would certainly like to talk to them and find out.

I realized, while I was at it, that my cover letter basically went like this:

HAI!! I can has job? U guyz r awesum.

I r awesum wordsmith!

I r awesum worker bee! I has l33t puter skillz.

I r awesum science geek! I can has job?

Visible qualifications! ttyl? kthxbai.

I can't believe you got me to "proofread" this crap.

Oh noes! Pig face! I r sad now. :'(

I think that sums up just about every cover letter I've ever read or written. All you need to do is change the order up, and "science geek" gets replaced as is pertinent.
The joy of templates...

I think this cover letter, verbatim but for the replacement of "wordsmith" or "science geek" as appropriate, should be standard for all future job applications. After all, that's basically what they all say.

Very awesome! One of the best uses of LOLspeak I've seen :D

To bad you actually *want* the job because it's be hilarious if you'd actually sent that in as is..... Maybe next possition?

Thanks!

Hmmm... were I applying for something that listed "knowledge of popular internet culture" or the equivalent in the qualifications (which I have seen, although not recently), it might actually be appropriate.

Fascinating.

Oh cover letters. I understand entirely.
